New Widget available

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Sorry for the lack of updates lately but we’ve been doing a lot of behind the scenes work as well as figuring out with our soon to be announced partners what free schwag we can give you. More on that later. In the meantime we’ve added a new widget into the mix. You can now use your xbox live gamertag on here.

Really easy to setup as well. Anyhow check it out in the presentation tab or go here to see it in action: corourke.dreamflicks.com

Server migration time!

Friday, January 19th, 2007

We’ll be moving the servers in the middle of next week. Yay to more space and a faster database server.

While we’re doing that we’ll also be doing some backend upgrades and bringing everything up to date a bit more. There may or not be a few surprises in there as well (10-15 new themes maybe??)

Some of you may have noticed that there are quite a few new widgets to choose from for your sidebar. We snuck those in yesterday and have a few more on the way as well. Like we said before Christmas a lot is happening in the new year.

Video Embedding tools now work with AtomFilms

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

We’re now able to embed AtomFilms.com videos directly into the post with the same ease of use as all other video sites we support (google video, youtube, ifilm, etc). While not many of you had requested the ability we strive to get you the options you want.

Have fun and check out user krougeau’s blog for some great videos: krougeau.dreamflicks.com

Thanks to Zeug over at An-Archos.com for fixing this so quickly.

Introducing Polls

Sunday, December 10th, 2006

What a great way to end a weekend. Introducing Polls. If you hop into your plugins directory you’ll notice something new.

Polls.

Yep you can now activate those two plugins  (wp-polls and wp-polls widget) to give your blog that oh so sassy feature of polls. Wanna know what your friends think? Poll ‘em.

Not a groundbreaking feature addition but it’s one that is  doubtless to be popular and was requested by a user. So you see, telling us what you want does help you make Dreamflicks a happier more satisfying place.

Speaking of polls and requests, on the right you’ll notice a poll asking you what you want to see us do next. Well don’t just stand there let us know what it is you want to see next on Dreamflicks.com

Video posting now easier then ever.

Friday, December 8th, 2006

Last change for the night.

In order to make posting videos, songs and (now even itunes imixes) easier for all of you, we’ve introduced a new plugin that will make it so all you have to do is click the “video” link when writing a new post and it’ll walk you through exactly what to do. This may cause issues for those of you importing from other hosts since each different host seems to have a different method for allowing embedded content.

Aside from some backend tweaking and working a few bugs out of a possibly launching new feature for next week I’m done with all this for the weekend.

If you want to see the new video feature in action check it out on the (un)official test blog.

New Feature for all

Friday, December 8th, 2006

Just in time for the weekend we’re offering up the ability to crosspost to your livejournal. With the new plugin (check the plugins area in your dashboard) you can easily crosspost everything to your existing livejournal.

Once you’ve activated the plugin just head over to the options page, enter in your account info and then submit. You have two options you can choose: update all your existing posts or just posts from here on out. This means if you use the livejournal importer to move all of your old posts over to dreamflicks you can keep adding to your lj after the move.

A few neat facts about the plugin:

  1. It will add a little box that says “Originally published at [your blog name].”
  2. You can have it tell people to comment on your posts here rather then at lj.
  3. If you decide to change the post, the plugin will automatically update the repost on your livejournal

All in all a pretty handy tool to help you smoothly transition your journaling over to your new home at dreamflicks.com

Also currently undergoing limited testing (with a release time hopefully before the end of the year) is a friends list tool to help you keep track of your friends here on dreamflicks.

Any other requests?
